Trying to line up perfectly with your base plate can be tough, especially when the ground isn’t level. The self-supporting arms on this tow bar hold their own weight, so you can connect one side at a time without wrestling a heavy bar that wants to drop. Each arm telescopes from 39-1/4" to 51-3/4", pivots, and tilts to the length and angle you need. Once you pull forward, the arms automatically lock into place. When it’s time to disconnect, the non-binding levers release the tension with a squeeze, even if you’re parked on uneven ground.
Keeping your setup level matters for safe, smooth towing. This tow bar’s built-in 1-1/2" rise/drop plus a head that tilts 3" up or down helps keep your bar within the recommended 3" of level without extra adapters. That means fewer parts to buy and less time spent fitting everything together before you hit the road.
Gas stations, campground turns, and narrow roads are easier when your tow setup gives you room to move. The extended 51-3/4" arms provide a wider turning radius, helping your towed vehicle track smoothly behind your RV around tight corners and obstacles without clipping the rear end.
Two straight, vinyl-coated safety cables rated at 14,000 lbs are built right into the tow bar. They stay up off the ground, won’t tangle, and keep your setup clean and organized. A storage rod keeps your electrical cord (sold separately) neatly out of the way. The steel S-hooks feature spring-loaded latches that keep everything securely connected while you tow.
When you’ve reached your destination, stowing the tow bar is simple. Instead of lifting heavy arms all the way upright, just raise them an inch or two and swing them to either side. They lock in place automatically whether you fold both to one side or split them. It keeps the back of your RV neat and ready for the next trip.
Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.

The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

About 5,000 miles on it so far and it works. Sometimes the quick release levers are hard to squeeze for 70+old hands. Same for the safety latch on the cables.
I like it very much with the exception that getting the arms locked in is a little difficult for me. My previous tow bar locked in by moving forward and weaving left and right. This isn’t that easy. Once I got them locked in it worked flawlessly.
This tow bar has given excellent service. I tow a jeep behind a motorhome. Easy to hook up. You don't have to be "exactly" in position. Safety cables are heavy with heavy hooks. No issues. All very good.
This works great. Had a different one that was more expensive. It was harder to use. Highly recommend etrailer unit
Excellent product, easy adjustment for height by flipping around. Had to get a longer break away cable for my rv/jeep but other than that, product has been great, tows my Jeep Wrangler with no issues.

I towed my 2017 Ford Taurus from TN to the Grand Canyon and back. It worked great, no problems.
I purchased parts to turn my 2007 Minni Cooper into a toad. After selecting the items I was able to have an initial conversation to verify I had selected the correct parts. I had a few questions along the way and there were a couple pins missing from one item. All these conversations were super helpful and I achieved a perfect install. Thanks to the etrailer team. Best customer service I’ve ever experienced. Especially in the last few years.

The tow bar works great, once I figured out how to show it. But the braking system causes a clickingtapping sound every time I get in my Jeep Patriot, I contacted striker before and they first said they hadnt heard of it, then they researched it and said it was common with Jeep Patriots. But no resolution.
